Remembering John Barker, Chair of the Congregation

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved Chairman, John Barker, who died peacefully on Monday, 24 November 2025, aged 90.

John was born on 4 August 1935, and for many years he served this chapel with dedication, wisdom, and kindness. His steady leadership and gentle presence enriched the life of our congregation in ways that will continue to be felt for many years to come. He will be sorely missed.

We can now share the arrangements for John’s funeral:

All who knew John and wish to pay their respects are warmly welcome.

In accordance with John’s own wishes, a Memorial Service will also be held here at Park Lane Unitarian Chapel in January. John had thoughtfully chosen the hymns and elements for this service himself. Full details will be shared once confirmed, and we hope many will join us in honouring his memory.
