What a Fabulous Concert!

Pemberton Youth Band

12 Oct 2026

Yesterday’s Harry Latham Memorial Concert at Park Lane was an afternoon to remember!

Harry was Park Lane’s organist for 58 years, and our annual concert celebrates his memory. For the past eight years, Pemberton Youth Brass Band has provided the music and entertainment—and this year certainly didn’t disappoint.

We usually welcome around 24 players, but this year band leader John Don-Duncan sheepishly told Brian, “There are a few more this year…”

Cue 36 band members filing into our tiny chapel—and WOW, what an incredible sound!

Among the standout moments were solos from Edward (10 yrs old), whose trombone is almost as big as he is, and Alfie (14 yrs old), resplendent in a cowboy Stetson. They blew us away! And it would be remiss of me not to mention Annabelle, who took a brief break from sharing her talents in the percussion section to entertain us dressed as a hippopotamus!

The music was carefully chosen and performed with gusto, with the afternoon topped off by a raffle. For the first time in a while, I won! Well, my mother won really, as that’s where my prize is destined!

It was a wonderful day with friends old and new, and another fantastic concert. The dedication and musicality of these fabulous young performers are a joy to witness, and I cannot wait for the next opportunity to welcome them into our sacred little chapel.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon so special. May Pemberton Youth Brass Band always be blessed!
